BBC iPlayer 2.0
The BBC iPlayer, The web concept that allows brits to watch BBC programmes they may have missed (Maybe you slept through the premiere of the new season of Top Gear? And hence the slogan “Making the unmissable, Unmissable.”) is about to launch a Version 2.0, Which includes among many new things, A shiny new interface (No, Really. Its *actually* shiny!) and improved play resolution (Meaning you’ll be able to watch an episode of Doctor Who in a higher resolution, 640×480 to be exact. It also appears to have better colour reproduction.)

Also included will be features that allow you to resume playing streaming content on-line where you last left off. (You could do this with downloaded DRM’d content before but not with content streaming from the BBC website.)

Also included in the update, A new version of the Radio iPlayer which will include a “More like this” widget, Which based on user listening habits will grow to provide each user with a customized Radio experience.

The BBC iPlayer, Which was originally launched in January 2008 now has an average of 5m page views per day. Showing that the demand for Internet based OnDemand content is now there. Sadly, For those in the states the BBC iPlayer is still UK only (Unless you are web-savvy enough to use a UK based proxy server. Which is a slightly dodgy solution to the problem.)
